Neuropsychological Evaluation

An evaluation generally consists of 3 parts. An intake, cognitive testing, and feedback. Typically the intake and the feedback are completed virtually to minimize traveling for the patient. Cognitive testing is completed in-person in the majority of situations.

Intake

Dr. Cecil will meet with the patient (and family if needed) to discuss the presenting problem(s), symptoms, and obtain a thorough medical, developmental, and psychological history. This typically takes an hour.

Cognitive Testing

Cognitive Testing typically involves a half day of in-person tasks. Some of the tests are paper and pencil, while others are completed on a computer or iPad. After the patient completes the tasks, the results are scored and interpreted. Over the course of 1-2 weeks, the data, along with information from the intake, are integrated and the findings are written into a report. The report will be provided to the patient for their taking.

Feedback

The Feedback session is the most important part of the 3-part evaluation. Feedback is provided on performance on testing and diagnosis, along with personalized recommendations. The patient will leave with a report and will be provided an hour long session to discuss modifiable lifestyle factors in which to alleviate or manage their cognitive symptoms. Dr. Cecil also provides referrals for any services that she deems necessary or beneficial.
