Cognitive Longevity (long-term cognitive health) is an ideal to which we can all strive. There are many factors that influence our cognitive longevity, such as diet and exercise, socialization, cognitive stimulation, etc. The primary goal is to prevent disease, and there are modifiable lifestyle factors that are statistically proven to reduce those chances. However, in the instance in which a disease is not preventable, holding on to ones' cognition as long as possible is beneficial for both the patient experiencing the disease, and the family members helping them through it. At the Cecil Center, we provide assessment to first understand whether there is cognitive dysfunction, and then work with you to understand all the ways in which it can be improved or symptoms better managed.
